Cowgirls Fall To Missouri, 65-62

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Oklahoma State's Kara Faulk scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds, but the Cowgirls could not overcome a Missouri team that went to the line 10 more times as the Tigers defeated OSU, 65-62, here Wednesday night before 1,474 fans in the Hearnes Center.
Oklahoma State shot 47.2 percent from the field, including 38.5 (5-of-13) percent from the three-point arc. The Cowgirls also held Mizzou to just 31.9 percent shooting in the game, and held the Tigers to 12 points below their average.
OSU held a 30-25 lead in the first period after shooting 54.5 percent. Meanwhile, the Cowgirls limited Mizzou to just 27 percent shooting, despite 15 more shots for the Tigers.
Jessica Bates scored 15 points for the Cowgirls on 7-of-11 shooting, while Chantoya Hawkins chipped in 11 for OSU. Jessica Spinner grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists, but was held scoreless on 0-of-1 shooting. Freshman Trisha Skibbe scored eight points in eight minutes on 4-of-5 shooting, despite a sprained ankle.
The Cowgirls were called for 10 fouls in the second half to the Tigers seven. Both teams committed just eight fouls in the first half. MU was in the bonus with 9-1/2 minutes left in the game, while OSU did not reach that point until there was 53 seconds remaining.
Missouri's Amanda Lassiter scored a team-high 20 points, including 13 in the second half. Tracy Franklin added 14 for the Tigers, while Marlena Williams chipped in seven points. MU went to the line a total of 17 times in the second stanza, compared to six for OSU.
Oklahoma State (13-12 overall, 5-9 Big 12) will travel to Norman, Okla., on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game with the 10th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. OU sits atop the Big 12 Standings with a 12-1 record in conference play.
