LAS VEGAS (AP) - It didn't take a perfect game for No. 15 Oklahoma State to defeat Siena 82-64 Tuesday night in the third round of the Las Vegas Tournament.
It just took a perfect final 7{ minutes.
The Cowboys (4-0) didn't miss a shot or free throw in the final 7:32, turning a 3-point deficit into a blowout win. Oklahoma State outscored Siena 28-7 in that span.
"We hit every shot we put up and we hit every free throw we attempted," Cowboys coach Eddie Sutton said. "I was proud of our ballclub to respond so well. The longer you let an underdog stay in the game, the more confidence they get."
Siena may have had confidence, but they didn't have the shots. The Saints (1-2) made only one field goal, a 3-pointer by Dwayne Archbold, and four free throws in the final run.
Maurice Baker led Oklahoma State with 23 points, while Victor Williams added 19 and Frederick Jonzen scored 17. The Cowboys shot 59 percent in the second half.
Clinton James and Mark Price each scored 17 for Siena (1-2) and Prosper Karangwa added 16.
"We were looking for something to give us a spark," said Williams, who provided two straight 3-pointers to turn a 60-59 advantage into a seven-point spread with 4:44 remaining. "We had a play here and a play there that got us going."
After Williams' two 3s, Baker hit two straight baskets to extend the lead to 70-59 with 2:53 remaining. Williams added another basket with 2:13 and the Cowboys then made 10 straight free throws for the final advantage.
Siena led 34-32 at halftime as Andy Cavo hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining. The Saints trailed 30-27 with less than three minutes remaining when James Clinton scored inside to pull Siena within one.
