Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team has signed a high school senior to a national letter-of-intent, it was announced today. Candy Herrera, a senior at Granite Hills High School in Apple Valley, Calif., will join the OSU program next season.
Herrera is the 13th-best golfer in the state of California, and ranked 84th in the world according to juniorgolfscoreboard.com. She already has one top-five finish this year and another top-10 placing. In 2000, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Girls Championship match-play tournament.
"We're very pleased to have Candy join our program," said OSU head coach Amy Weeks. "She brings with her a great knowledge of the game of golf, and she's a wonderful person as well. She will be a fine addition to the Oklahoma State community."
