Women's Golf Finishes Second At Bruin Classic

TEMECULA, Calif. -- Oklahoma State's ninth-ranked women's golf team shot a final-round 294, propelling the Cowgirls to a second-place finish here Tuesday afternoon in the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic, hosted by UCLA.
The Cowgirls finished 15 strokes behind champion Pepperdine, which finished with a three-round total of 881. OSU finished at 896, followed by UCLA (899), Texas A&M (904) and California (906) rounded out the top five.
Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright won the individual title by one stroke, shooting a 217 for the three-round tournament. OSU's Maria Bod?n tied for fourth with a 219, including a one-under-par 71 during the first round. Emma Zackrisson (tied for ninth at 223) and Linda Wessberg (tied for 18th with a 228) both finished in the top 20 for Oklahoma State.
Other Oklahoma State scores included Christi Cano tying for 26th with a 231, Natasha Rowe tying for 41st with a 235, JoAnn Heller tying for 69th with a 244, and McKenzie Gibson tying for 77th with a 247. Both Cano and Gibson were playing as individuals.
Oklahoma State will next compete in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, March 28-30, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
