Cowgirls Finish Third At NMSU Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team finished third in the Price's Give 'em Five Intercollegiate here Tuesday afternoon, led by senior Maria Bod?n's third-place finish individually. OSU finished 15 strokes behind team-champion and host-school New Mexico State and four strokes behind second-place TCU.
After shooting par 72 for the first two rounds, Bod?n shot a final-round 75 and finished four strokes behind medalist Sasha Medina of NMSU. Baylor's Melanie Hagewood finished one stroke ahead of Bod?n with a 218 for a second-place finish.
Cowgirls Emma Zackrisson and Linda Wessberg both tied for eighth place with a three-round total of 224. Sophomore Christi Cano finished 35th with a 234, while McKenzie Gibson tied for 77th place with a 250.
The tournament was the Cowgirls' final tournament of the fall season. OSU will return to action on Feb. 12, 2001, in the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
