STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Sarah Knife Chief gave up just one run on eight scattered hits and the Cowgirl offense had two run-scoring doubles as OSU defeated the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine, 3-1, here Thursday night at Cowgirl Field.
The Cowgirls scored a run in the bottom of the first when leftfielder Shelly Graham scored on a groundout by Liz Silva. Graham reached on a walk, and advanced to third on a single through the left side by All-American Jaime Foutch.
Hawaii evened the score in the third when a Kristin Anderson hit squeezed between third base and the glove of Jenny Kipp, scoring Natalie Gonzalez. However, after Knife Chief issued a walk, she struck out Tyree Woodruff to end the inning.
Oklahoma State scored its final two runs on two-out doubles, first in the fourth, when pinch runner Paula Garman scored on a Casey O'Neill two-bagger, and again in the fifth, when leadoff hitter Jennifer Olival scored on a Foutch double.
Foutch went 2-for-3 in the game, while Olival, Graham and O'Neill had one hit each. Hawaii had eight hits, but stranded 12 runners on base, including twice with the bases loaded.
Oklahoma State (20-21) will host bedlam-rival Oklahoma (37-12) on Friday night in the final game of the regular season for both schools. It will also be Senior Night, as eight Cowgirl seniors will be honored prior to the contest. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
