Women's Golf Wins Bruin Classic

MENEFEE LAKES, Calif. - Oklahoma State's Maria Boden claimed medalist honors and the Cowgirls claimed the team title of the Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic, Wednesday afternoon. Boden claimed a six-shot victory in the individual standings while the Cowgirls enjoyed an 18-shot margin over second-place Pepperdine.
Coach Ann Pitts and her seventh-ranked Cowgirls claim the title in their first tournament of the spring. OSU also won its last tournament during the fall portion of the schedule in Hawaii.
In Wednesday's final round of the Bruin Classic, Boden fired a two-over-par 74 to go with a first-round score of 72 and a second-round of one-under 71. Her tournament total of 217 was one-over-par on the Menefee Lakes Country Club Course.
As a team, Oklahoma State led from start to finish. The Cowgirls had an 18-shot advantage over TCU after the first round and a 22-shot lead over UCLA and Pepperdine after the second round.
Oklahoma State had four individuals, including Boden, finish in the top 20. Jo Jo Robertson finished tied for third with a three-day total of 224. Eva Lotta Stromlid and Emma Zackrisson finished in a six-way tie for 20th with totals of 232.
The Cowgirls' next tournament action will be at the Spartan Invitational in San Jose, Calif., on March 8-10.
