Women's Golf Finishes Third at Big 12 Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Maria Boden was named the Big 12 Conference's Newcomer of the Year and Coach Ann Pitts was named Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the Big 12 Championships here this weekend that saw the Cowgirls finish third behind Texas A&M and Texas.
Boden, a freshman from Harnosand, Sweden, was also voted first-team All-Big 12 by the league coaches, joining fellow Swedes Anna Becker (So., Texas A&M) and Isabelle Rosberg (Sr., Texas A&M) on the All-Big 12 team. Other members of the first team were Brooke Lowrance (Jr., Texas Tech) and Letitia Moses (Jr., Missouri).
Pitts, who has been the leader of the OSU program since its inception in 1977, was named the Coach of the Year by her peers. Under her direction, OSU has accumulated 14 conference titles in the last 22 years. This season, OSU won two tournament team titles.
The 10th-ranked Cowgirls shot a final-round 305 to finish at 924 for the tournament, just five strokes behind champion Texas A&M and one stroke behind runnerup Texas. A&M's Rosberg won the individual title with a nine-over-par 225.
Oklahoma State's highest individual finish was a tie for fifth by junior JoJo Robertson. The Roswell, N.M., native shot a 73 during the final round to finish at 228. Senior Bresha Marshall tied for 10th with a 232, while the freshman Bodin tied for 13th with a 233.
Second-team All-Big 12 honors went to Texas Tech's Priscillia Hunt, Oklahoma's Isabelle Blais, Missouri's Stefanie Mitchell, Texas' Jennifer Waterhouse and A& M's Jamie Hullett.
The Cowgirls will take 10 days off for finals and to prepare for the NCAA West Regionals, May 7-9, at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.
