Cowgirls Finish 12th at NCAA Golf Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Severe weather cancelled the final round of the 1999 NCAA Women's Golf Championships here Saturday afternoon at the Tulsa Country Club, with Duke winning the national championship based on final third-round scores. Oklahoma State had two golfers complete the course before rain and lightning stopped play at approximately 4 p.m.
The Cowgirls finished 12th at the championships, 43 strokes behind Duke. OSU finished two strokes behind Ohio State, as the Buckeyes finished with a 936. Georgia and Arizona State tied for second, eight strokes behind Duke. The Sun Devils were just two strokes behind the Blue Devils after seven holes when the tournament was called.
Cowgirl sophomore Maria Bodn earned medalist honors, tying for 12th place individually. It is the first time that an OSU golfer has finished in the top 15 since Stephanie Martin tied for ninth at the 1992 Championships in Tempe, Ariz.
