Cowgirl Golf in Second Place After Round One

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked women's golf team is in second place after the first round of the BYU/Utah-Dixie Classic here Monday afternoon, trailing the Kansas Jayhawks by five strokes after the first 18 holes. KU leads the field with a team score of 294, while OSU was the only other team to break the 300 barrier by shooting a 299.
Senior Lotta Stromlid leads the Cowgirls with a one-over-par 73, good enough to tie for second place. KU's Susan Tessary is atop the individual leaderboard with a par-72. OSU's Emma Zackrisson and Natasha Rowe are tied for ninth with scores of 75, while both Maria Bodn and JoJo Robertson are tied for 18th with a 76, placing all five OSU golfers in the top 20.
Texas Tech is in third place in the team standings, two strokes behind Oklahoma State at 301. Host school Brigham Young (304) and Nebraska (305) round out the top five teams. Other Big 12 teams competing in the event are Missouri (tied for seventh at 309), Oklahoma (ninth at 313), Iowa State (12th at 316) and Colorado (14th at 321).
The tournament, played on the Sunbrook Golf Course, will continue with a round of nine holes later Monday night, and conclude on Tuesday with a round of 36 holes.
