Cowgirl Golf Moves Up to 12th Place

TULSA, Okla.- Oklahoma State's Cowgirl golf team moved up seven spots to 12th place after the third round of the 1999 NCAA Women's Golf Championships here Friday afternoon at the Tulsa Country Club. The Cowgirls shot a 301 for the round, the sixth-best score of the day.
Despite two birdies, Oklahoma State was 14-over-par during the first nine holes Friday afternoon. However, the Cowgirls had six birdies, including three by senior JoJo Robertson, to shoot just three-over on the back nine and finish 17-over. The back nine for OSU, which was actually holes one through nine, have been very kind to the Cowgirls. Through three rounds, they have shot 43-over on the first nine, while shooting plus-77 on the last nine holes.
Duke continues to lead the team standings, shooting a 298 Friday afternoon and 895 for the tournament. Georgia and Arizona State are tied for second, each shooting a 903 after three rounds. Arizona is in fourth place with a 904, and Pepperdine rounds out the top five with a 911. Host-school Tulsa is in sixth place with a 913.
Individually, ASU's Grace Park is the only golfer with a sub-par tournament score, shooting one-under at 212. Duke's Candy Hannemann is in second place, shooting even-par for the tournament. OSU's Maria Bodn is the top Cowgirl, tied for 12th with a 13-over 226. Bodn shot a 72 Friday afternoon, the fourth-best round of the day.
Other Cowgirl scores include freshman Emma Zackrisson, who is tied with senior Lotta Stromlid for 57th place at 236, Robertson, who is tied for 74th at 241, and Natasha Rowe rounds out the scoring with a 246, good for a tie for 88th place.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday with a final round of 18 holes. Oklahoma State will tee off beginning at 11:05 a.m. from the 10th tee.
