2023-24: Had a 4-0 showing to win the 165-pound championship at the 918 Open … Secured a pin, technical fall and major decision on his way to the title … Was a key leader despite his limited role on the mat, serving as a captain at multiple duals … Selected to the Academic All-Big 12 team.
2022-23: Suffered a season-ending injury prior to the start of the season.
2021-22: Mainly competed in open tournaments where he compiled a 9-8 record … Made his dual debut for Oklahoma State against Little Rock in a 5-0 loss to Joey Bianchi … Took third place at the Lindenwood Open with a 5-1 record that included a first period fall over Oklahoma’s Brice O’Hara … Received Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for his work in the classroom.
2020-21: Did not compete for the Cowboys in 2021.
2019-20 (IU): Finished the season with a 14-10 record for the Hoosiers…Took first-place at the Journeyman Classic, second-place at the Lindenwood Open, fifth-place at the UNI open and second-place at the Alma Open…Had a stretch of the season where he won eight of 10 matches… Earned Academic All-Big 10 recognition.
2018-19 (Indiana, Redshirt Year): A freshman at Indiana University…Finished the season with a 2-1 overall record with both wins coming by fall…Earned a third-place finish at the Greyhound Open.
High School: Wrestled at Graham High School… Posting a record of 135-19 for coach Jeff Jordan… Was a state placed in 2016 and 2017… Was Ohio state champion in 2018… Placed at the 2017 Walsh Jesuit Ironman tournament… Earned Academic All-Ohio all four years of high school.
Personal: Son of Jeff and Tracie Sanchez… Has two siblings, Matt and Jessie… Graduated with a degree in University Studies and working towards a second degree in Nutritional Sciences:Pre-Med at OSU.
