2024-25: Won the 174-pound national championship with back-to-back wins over former national champions in No. 2 Levi Haines (Penn State) and No. 1 Keegan O’Toole (Missouri) … One of the country’s most dominant wrestlers with a 27-1 record, 17 ranked wins and 19 bonus-point wins … Finished second at the Big 12 Championships where he lost to O’Toole in the finals before later avenging that loss on the biggest stage … Had a takedown ratio of 90:6 and led the team in dual wins, wins by technical fall, takedowns, and reversals … Was the only Cowboy to record a win in all 14 duals … 100th career win came over Iowa’s Nelson Brandsin … Won the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational with four bonus-point wins over ranked foes.Â
2023-24 (Wisconsin): Had another outstanding season with a 28-4 record … Made it three consecutive seasons with a top-five national seed after slotting in at No. 5 at the NCAA Championships … Reached the quarterfinals, but fell one win short of the national podium … Runner-up at the Big Ten Championships following a wild 13-11 defeat to No. 5 Mitchell Mesenbrink of Penn State … Beat three top-10 wrestlers as part of his 16-4 record against ranked opponents … Won 15 of his 16 dual matches … Racked up 10 pins and eight technical falls, both career-highs, along with six major decisions for a 75% bonus rate … Ranked top-six in every poll by InterMat throughout the year … Had a combined deficit of 12 points in his four losses, three of which came to the two national finalists at his weight … Faced Oklahoma State’s Izzak Olejnik in his second appearance at the NWCA All-Star Classic … Champion at both the Michigan State Open and Midlands Championships … Competed mainly at 165 pounds, but made three dual starts at 174 … Selected to the Academic All-Big Ten team.
