Kim Howard has served as the athletic trainer for the Cowgirl basketball program since 2015. In addition to her duties on the hardwood, she oversees athletic training for the OSU equestrian team.

Howard came to Stillwater after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Memphis, where she worked with the women’s basketball and cheer and pom squads. Additionally, she served as the oversight for women’s volleyball and women’s tennis.

From 2005-12, Howard worked at Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University. During that time, she served as the head athletic trainer for men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball and supervised the athletic training responsibilities associated with women’s volleyball and baseball.

Howard served a one-year fellowship for the United States Olympic Committee in 2004-05, was a board member for the NAIA Athletic Trainers Association from 2006-11 and an adjunct professor.

While pursuing her master’s degree at San Jose State University, she served as the head athletic trainer for Los Altos HS, overseeing 18 sports at the junior varsity and varsity levels.

A certified athletic trainer via National Athletic Trainers Association, Howard is also certified by the American Red Cross as a professional rescuer and has special training Graston Technique therapy, blood flow restriction rehabilitation, dry needling therapy and biochemical taping for movement control.

A graduate of the University of Tulsa, Howard has a master’s degree in athletic training from San Jose State as well as a master’s degree in organizational leadership and an advance leadership certificate from Azusa Pacific.
Howard and her husband, Chris, were married in December of 2018.
