Cowgirl Catalyst: Wooten Shines off the Bench in Victory Over Houston
January 03, 2026 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER – Jadyn Wooten shined off the bench, dropping 21 points in Oklahoma State's first home conference win of the 2025-26 campaign against Houston.
The sophomore has not let her youth stop her from success, becoming a natural leader for the Cowgirls. Like her freshman campaign, Wooten leads the Cowgirls in assists per game, adding to that today with a game-high 8 assists.
Late in the third quarter, Wooten missed an easy layup, but responded, got the miss, turned around and nailed the jumper. Wooten plays with that electric confidence and it shows on the court.
"My teammates and coaches also say that a jumper is a layup for me, and I guess it shows because I missed the layup and made the jumper," Wooten said. "But really my teammates give me the confidence."
The victory comes off a tough loss last Wednesday versus No. 22 Baylor. Wooten and the Cowgirls had to respond against the Cougars.
"We feel like we dropped that one," Wooten said. "We just got back in the gym. We know what we are capable of and we are just trying to steward what we've been given and come back and give it all we got."
The fans and energy at Gallagher-Iba Arena are palpable. Wooten feeds off that energy that the loyal and true provide.
"We love you guys," Wooten said. "When you guys come, you make the place better, you make it easier to play in and harder for the other teams to play in, so keep on coming, please."
Wooten and the Cowgirls will head down to Fort Worth, Texas, for a battle with top-ranked TCU.
"They have really good players, really great players, some of the best in the country, but I believe we do too," Wooten said. "Just prepping, like we have, and make sure we are locked in as we hope to get an upset win."
