STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State's women's basketball team knocked off Houston, 83-52, on Saturday afternoon in front of 2,771 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena to improve to 13-3 on the year.
In the first, the Cowgirls held the Cougars to just one field goal in their last eight tries, while shooting 50 percent from floor themselves to lead 18-9. OSU hit four of its eight attempts beyond the 3-point arc, including two from Micah Gray.
The Cowgirls extended the margin to 25 at 40-15 with 4:22 to go in the half before the Cougars closed the period with 14 of the final 19 points to cut the margin to 16 at the break.
Gray and Jadyn Wooten each finished the first 20 minutes with 11 points to lead all scorers.
The Cowgirls used a 12-2 burst out of the locker room to push the margin to 57-31 and force a Houston timeout with 5:26 to go in the period. OSU would outscore the Cougars by a 22-12 count to extend its lead to 61-41 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Wooten finished with 21 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while Gray added 21 and Amari Whiting finished with 14 points and seven assists.
