Keyanna Warthen enters her first season as a graduate assistant for the Cowgirl basketball program after wrapping up her playing career last season as a graduate transfer at SMU.
During her final collegiate season, Warthen played in 26 games and made five starts for the Mustangs. She averaged 3.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest. She also notched a pair of double-doubles, finishing with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds against Tulane before scoring a career-best 12 points and pulling 11 rebounds at Tulsa. She shot 44.6 percent from the floor on the year.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Warthen played in 116 games for Indiana, finishing her career as the program’s all-time winningest player with 89. She scored 212 points and grabbed 104 rebounds during her career.
The Hoosiers made three postseason appearances, including two NCAA appearances and a WNIT title during her freshman season As a senior, the Hoosiers advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Warthen finished her prep career as Fort Lauderdale High School’s all-time leading scorer with 1,820 points. She averaged 20.3 points per game as a senior. In 2017, she was named the Miami Herald Girls’ 9A-7A Plyer of the Year. Following her sophomore season, Warthen was named the Orlando Sun Sentinel Class 8A-7A-6A Player of the Year.
