2024 Indoors
Continued to show he’s one of the best in the business during the indoor season, starting off with an insane performance at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston… Schoppe clocked a time of 7:38.80 in the 3,000 Meters, which was the seventh-fastest time in NCAA history at the time of the race… Ran a time of 3:56.23 in the Mile at the Eagle Elite Invitational… Anchored the Cowboy DMR to an NCAA qualifying time of 9:19.74 at the Arkansas Qualifier… At the Big 12 Championships, Schoppe took the baton in the DMR and made up a two-second gap on BYU’s Lucas Bons, who was a 3:54 miler to take home the conference crown for the fourth straight year… Returned the next day and collected his first individual Big 12 title in the Mile with his time of 4:02.73… Qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 3K and DMR… For the second straight season, he anchored the Cowboy DMR to an NCAA title as he split 3:55.59 on the final leg and fended off a late surge from Georgetown to secure the win… Came back the next night and earned his second first team All-America honor of the weekend in the 3K as he placed eighth overall.
2023 Outdoors
Started his outdoor season at the Bryan Clay Invitational, finishing fifth overall in the 5,000 Meters with his time of 13:37.06, which ranks seventh in program history… Competed at the Penn Relays in both the DMR and the 4xMile Relays… Finished second in the 1,500 Meters at the Arkansas Twilight with a time of 3:42.22… Qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 1,500 Meters, making it to the semifinals.
2023 Indoors
Solidified himself as a middle-distance star and one of the best in the NCAA during the 2023 indoor season… Kicked off his campaign at the Razorback Invitational, anchoring the Cowboy Distance Medley Relay to a meet victory and NCAA-leading time of 9:29.08… He also placed second in the Mile at the same meet with a time of 3:55.63, which ranks third in Cowboy history behind only Cowboy national champions Fouad Messaoudi and German Fernandez… Two weeks later at the Husky Classic in Washington, Schoppe dropped a personal-best time of 7:41.99 in the 3,000 Meters, which ranks ninth in NCAA history and second in OSU history behind only Messaoudi… He helped make history at the Arkansas Qualifier, anchoring the Cowboy DMR once again to a school, collegiate and world record in the event, going 9:16.40 overall with Schoppe splitting 3:52.84 on the 1,600-meter leg… He continued his run of form at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, anchoring the Cowboy DMR to a Big 12 title and finishing second in the Mile with a time of 3:58.47, helping the Cowboys finish second in the team standings… Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the DMR and 3,000 Meters… Anchored the Cowboy DMR for the fourth time, securing the first men’s NCAA indoor title since 1986 with their dominant, three-second victory… Also earned second team All-America honors in the 3K with his time of 8:12.19.
2022 Cross Country
Played a pivotal role in OSU’s dominant season… Opened his season with a 24:39.6 8K time at the Cowboy Jamboree… Not satisfied, he bested that time by a minute in the Weis-Crockett Invitational, where he finished seventh and was the first Cowboy on the board… Continued his dominance in conference action, earning All-Big 12 status for the third time after placing in the top 10 of the Big 12 Championships for the third year in a row, finishing seventh in 24:15.1… Competed for the Cowboys in the NCAA Cross Country Championships, setting a personal record in the 10K after crossing the finish line in 29:48.7.
2022 Outdoors
Proved himself one of the best middle-distance specialists in the country during the 2022 outdoor campaign… Kicked things off at the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss., finishing sixth overall with a time of 3:43.36… Followed that up with another historic performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational, breaking German Fernandez’s 1,500 Meter school record set back in 2012 with his time of 3:37.43… Again anchored the OSU DMR at the Drake Relays, taking them to the victory as they crossed the line in 9:40.60… Continued his momentum at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, finishing with the fastest qualifying time in the 1,500 Meters before earning a second-place finish in the finals for his second career outdoor All-Big 12 honor… Also had the fastest qualifying time in the first round at the NCAA West Prelims before advancing to the NCAA Championships in the quarterfinals… Earned second-team All-America honors in the 1,500 Meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with his time of 3:47.68.
2022 Indoors
Started off his season with a bang at the Arkansas Invitational, breaking the four-minute barrier in the Mile for the first time in his career as he came across the line first with a time of 3:58.71… Anchored the Cowboy DMR to an event victory at the Razorback Invitational with a time of 9:28.88… Made history as he broke teammate Alex Maier’s school record in the 3,000 Meters at the Husky Classic with a time of 7:46.48 on his way to a sixth-place finish overall… Once again anchored the Cowboy DMR as they became the fifth-fastest team in NCAA history with a time of 9:22.70, which also shattered the previous school record of 9:26.60 set back in 2016. Qualified for the finals in the Mile at the Big 12 Championships with a personal-best time of 3:57.87, which currently ranks seventh in program history… Anchored the Distance Medley Relay for the third time at the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished with a 3:54 mile split to bring the Cowboys to a fifth-place finish and first-team All-America honors.
2021 Cross Country
Solidified himself as a staple in the Cowboy distance lineup… Opened his season with a third-place finish at the Cowboy Preview, clocking a 5K time of 15:12.1… Helped the Cowboys to a second-place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree, picking up a 24th-place finish with an 8K time of 24:22.7… Earned his second career All-Big 12 honor with his 6th-place finish at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships… Earned All-Midwest Region honors at the NCAA Midwest Regionals as he finished 22nd overall with a personal-best 10K time of 30:51.4… Also competed for the Cowboys at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
2021 Outdoors
Raced three times in his debut outdoor season… opened with a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters at the Joe Walker Invitational… followed it with a personal record, 13:43.64 pace at the Big 12 Championships, which placed him second and earned him All-Big 12 honors.
2020 Cross Country
Raced in all five meets the Cowboys competed in during the 2020 season… finished sixth at the Cowboy Jamboree and 21st at the OSU Invitational… raced the fastest 8K of his career at the Big 12 Championship: his 23:36.7, 10th-place finish was integral to the Cowboys’ tiebreaker win to claim their 10th conference title in program history… finished 11th at the OSU Winter Open… represented Oklahoma State on the national stage at the NCAA Cross Country Championship and finished in a time of 34:04.0.
High School
Lettered four years at La Porte High School … competed in the 1,600, mile, 5K and 3,200 … was a two-time state champion in the 3,200m … was the 1,600m state runner-up in 2019 … won the cross country state championship in 2019 after finishing as runner-up in 2018 … is the state record holder in the 5K with a time of 14:14:02.
