2026-27 (Sophomore):
One of three returners from last year's freshman class... Sharp-shooting guard who won a pair of high school state championships and set Virginia's single-season three-point record (142) as a junior… A consensus four-star recruit ranked No. 80 in the Class of 2025, per 247Sports.
2025-26 (Freshman):
Appeared in 28 games for the Cowboys and logged 10 starts, including the season opener... Averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game while knocking down a total of 16 threes... Committed just six turnovers in 280 minutes (or roughly one per 46 minutes of court time)... Converted 75% of his foul shots (15-of-20)... First OSU true freshman since Cade Cunningham (2020-21) to start a season-opener -- and just the 18th in OSU history -- finishing with seven points and three rebounds in 14 minutes against Oral Roberts... Scored a season-high 11 points in the Nov. 22 win over Nicholls... Best Big 12 game was a nine-point effort against Iowa State (Jan. 24), during which he nailed 3-of-6 from deep... Started both NIT games and dished out a season-best four assists in the first-round win over Davidson (Mar. 17).
Lutz on Crotty:
"Ryan is a tireless worker who puts team goals ahead of his own. Last year he set Virginia's high school three-point record, but what most impressed me was the way that he did it – within the flow of the offense for a state championship team. He's been well-coached and has a real understanding of spacing and how to get himself open. Combine that with his size and a quick release, and you can see why he's become one of the nation's elite shooters. He's also a wonderful person and student. We're glad he's decided to join us for his next chapter."
High School:
Made 247 three-pointers in two seasons at The Miller School in Charlottesville, Va., including a state record 142 on 46% accuracy as a junior… Two-time first team All-VISAA Division II selection, led his team to back-to-back state championships along with a pair of BRAC regular season titles… Voted Team MVP as a senior when he averaged 17.7 points and made 115 threes on 43% accuracy… Scored his 1,000th career point and broke his own school record with 11 threes in an early February win over Fishburne Military while helping his team set another program mark with 28 triples on 69 attempts… Put up 18.5 points and 5.3 rebounds as a junior while connecting on an average of 4.03 threes per game (142 in 35 contests)… Had a strong spring 2024 showing with Boo Williams, tallying 14.2 points in EYBL play and 12.8 points per game at Peach Jam.
Personal:
Birthday is Apr. 20… Signed with OSU in the fall of 2024 over offers from Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and more, citing Steve Lutz;s playing style and OSU's campus and facilities as some of the primary drivers... Son of Dan and Shelly Crotty... Has an older brother, Zach... Plans to study business at OSU.
