Cowgirls one shot off the lead entering final round of Huntington Bank Collegiate

DALLAS – Oklahoma State women's golf began play at the Trinity Forest Golf Club on Monday, ending the day in second place.
The Cowgirls opened with a 6-under 282 before surging to a second-round 278 (-10), tying UCLA for the day's low round. Head coach Annie Young's squad combined for a 560 (-16) score, tying the 13th-lowest 36-hole score in program history.
Oklahoma State trails first-place UCLA by one stroke heading into Tuesday's final round. The Pokes hold a 4-stroke lead over third-place SMU.
Marta Silchenko led the Cowgirl charge, ending the day with sole possession of first place on the individual leaderboard. Silchenko posted a 5-under 67 in the first round, marking a new season-best and tying her career-low 18-hole score.
The junior from Riga, Latvia, returned with a 4-under 68 in the second round, going 9-under on the day to take a 1-stroke lead over the field. Silchenko's combined 135 score is tied for the 13th-lowest individual 36-hole mark in school history. After a 12-birdie day, Silchenko is now just one away from 250 for her career.
Yu-Chu Chen played at even-par in the first round before carding a career-low 66 (-6) in the second. Chen's 66 marked the lowest 18-hole score by a Cowgirl since Ellie Bushnell fired a 65 (-5) in the second round of the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 20. The true freshman ended Monday in a tie for fourth place, jumping 17 spots on the leaderboard between rounds.
Ellie Bushnell was the third and final Cowgirl to finish under par on the day, pairing a 1-under 71 in the first round with an even-par 72 in the second. Bushnell was one of just five golfers to card an eagle, picking up the eighth of her career on TFGC's par-5 second hole in the second round. The junior enters Tuesday tied for 17th.
Sophomore duo Summer Lee and Tarapath Panya each closed Monday's action at 1-over, tying for 33rd. Lee went 72-73—145, while Panya carded the inverse 73-72—145.
The Cowgirls return to action tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. CDT for the third and final round of the Huntington Bank Collegiate. Oklahoma State will be paired with UCLA, SMU and Houston in the leaders' group.
