Cowgirls Bounce Back To Knock Off UCF, 81-58

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team earned a dominant conference win Saturday afternoon, defeating UCF 81-59 inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
With the victory, the Cowgirls improved to 19-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play, while UCF dropped to 10-13 and 2-10 in the Big 12.
The opening quarter belonged entirely to Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls jumped out to an early 10-2 lead and closed the period on a 14-4 run. Micah Gray knocked down two 3-pointers in the quarter, and Jadyn Wooten capped the run with a buzzer-beating three to give OSU a 24-6 advantage after one.
OSU continued its dominance in the second quarter with contributions from up and down the lineup. Seven different Cowgirls scored in the period as the Pokes extended their lead.
Stailee Heard and Wooten helped fuel another late run, and Heard beat the halftime buzzer to send OSU into the break with a commanding 47-20 lead.
The third quarter saw a more balanced stretch of play, but Oklahoma State maintained control and prevented UCF from building any momentum. Amari Whiting was active in the paint, scoring on multiple layups and adding a pair of free throws. Lena Girardi also made her presence felt, knocking down a 3-pointer.
The fourth quarter mirrored the third, with Oklahoma State continuing to manage the lead. The Cowgirls closed the game with a late run to secure the 20-point victory.
Whiting led the Cowgirls with 15 points, while Wooten finished with 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Five Oklahoma State players scored in double figures.
The Cowgirls will head north for their next matchup, traveling to Kansas State on Feb. 10. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.
