MANHATTAN, Kan. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team fell to Kansas State 70-61 on Tuesday night in Big 12 action.
With the loss, the Cowgirls move to 19-7 overall and 8-5 in conference play, while the Wildcats improve to 14-12 and 7-6 against league opponents.
The game opened with both teams struggling to generate offense. Achol Akot accounted for Oklahoma State's first five points before Stailee Heard added a layup, but scoring remained limited for the Cowgirls in the opening quarter. Kansas State capitalized on OSU's slow start, holding the Cowgirls to just nine points and building an 18-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Kansas State, however, responded with a strong close to the half, going on a 9-1 run over the final minutes. The Wildcats' defense forced difficult looks and turnovers, allowing them to take a 29-18 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Micah Gray connected on an early 3-pointer to bring the deficit back to single digits and shift the momentum in OSU's favor. Heard and Whiting combined for 13 points in the third quarter, with the duo also drawing fouls and converting seven free throws as Oklahoma State continued to chip away at the deficit. Despite several short runs from the Cowgirls, Kansas State answered each push and maintained control, leading 52-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
Oklahoma State made its strongest push in the final period, opening the quarter with a 9-2 run to tie the game with 6:30 remaining. The Cowgirls briefly had momentum on their side, but Kansas State responded with timely scoring and defensive stops. The Wildcats closed the game on a 15-7 run, pulling away in the final minutes to secure a nine-point win.
Gray and Whiting led Oklahoma State with 16 points apiece, and Whiting added nine rebounds to finish just shy of a double-double.
