Cowboys Roll Past Omaha
February 26, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
Lincoln, Neb. – Oklahoma State men's tennis cruised by Omaha, sweeping the Mavericks, 7-0, at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on Thursday night.
The Cowboys improve to 10-2 and have won seven straight, while Omaha falls to 3-7. OSU is now 6-0 all-time versus the Mavericks.
Oklahoma State has 67 team points through 12 matches, the most team points through 12 matches since 1981. In addition, this is the second time in three seasons that head coach Dustin Taylor has started the season with 10 wins in 12 matches.
The Pokes got off to a quick start, snagging the doubles point with top-notch performances from the pairings of Haydar Gokpinar/Nicolas Kobelt and Alessio Basile/Ian Bracks. The two duos made quick work of Omaha's doubles teams and gave the Pokes a lead that they would never squander.
Gokpinar and Kobelt defeated Omaha's Bryan Kuntz and Maddox Lundell, 6-3. Shortly after, Basile and Bracks secured the point with a 6-4 win over Anthony Scheglowski and Liam Spiers. The Pokes have now won 10 of 12 doubles points this season.
Singles saw more of the same from the Cowboys, with every single Poke winning in straight sets.
The highlight was the freshman from Turkey, Gokpinar. Gokpinar took home his 10th win of the season and has yet to lose, defeating Kaden Taylor, 6-1, 6-2, all while only dropping one set on the campaign. It is the longest winning streak to start a career since Lucas Gerch went 16-0 as a freshman in 2014.
The veterans of the team, Basile, Kobelt and Derek Pham all took home wins on their respective courts. Cowboy sophomore Bracks earned his eighth win in 10 tries this season, taking down Pavan Uppu on court four. Bracks has wins on five of the six courts.
To wrap up the match, freshman Charlie Valentine battled with Lundell and continued his unbeaten freshman campaign, 7-5, 6-4. Valentine has yet to drop a set, while the Cowboys improve to 23-0 on court five and six combined.
The Cowboys will be back at the Dillon Tennis Center for a battle with No. 52 Nebraska at 6 p.m.
