February 13, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER - In his 1,000th match, assistant coach James Wadley and the Oklahoma State men's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory over in-state rival Tulsa at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Friday night.
OSU improved to 7-2 on the season, while Tulsa dropped to 7-6 on the year. The Cowboys remained perfect at home on the year with a 6-0 mark, winning every match with a score of 7-0. Wadley, the winningest coach in Cowboy Tennis history, recently rejoined the staff and was part of his 666th win as a coach for Oklahoma State on Friday night.
Doubles were tightly contested, coming down to a tiebreaker on court three which saw OSU's senior Alessio Basile and Ian Bracks clutch up and take the 1-0 lead with a 7-6(6) victory over Tulsa's Victory Tosetto and Gus Tettamble. The pairing has yet to drop a match to begin the 2026 season. Court one also saw a Cowboy victory, with OSU's Aaron Williams and Nicolas Kobelt, improving to 7-1 with a 6-4 win over Tulsa's Calum Jestin and Connor Doig.
Heading into singles play, OSU struck first on court three with Kobelt improving to 7-1 this season, taking down Tulsa's Takeshi Taco, 6-1, 6-4. Moving down to court one, Basile kept the ball rolling, winning his match shortly thereafter with a score of 6-3, 6-3 over Nikita Volonski.
On court six, freshman Haydar Gokpinar clinched it for the Pokes for the second-straight match, defeating Tosetto by a score of 6-3, 6-2. The win marks his seventh win of the season in seven attempts, only dropping one set all season.
Bracks secured a victory against Connor Doig, 6-3, 6-4, on court five. With the team win in hand, Williams secured a win over Ruben Fernandez 6-0, 7-6(7) in a tightly contested second-set tiebreak to give the transfer from Georgia Southern his eighth singles win in nine matches.
With the shutout resting on court two, Derek Pham battled through a back-and-forth contest against Timothy Carlsson Seger. After splitting the first two sets, Pham sealed the match in the deciding super tie-break, 7-5, 5-7, [10-8].
The Cowboys will be back for a morning bout on Sunday against Middle Tennessee State at the Greenwood Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
