Cowboy quartet dominates 3,000 Meters at Tyson Invitational to kick off tri-meet weekend

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field returned to action Friday at the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas, the Husky Classic in Washington and the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in New Mexico, headlined by several impressive distance performances.
At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., former Cowboy and four-time indoor All-American Ryan Schoppe, cruised to victory in the men's 3,000 Meter Championship section with a personal-best time of 7:38.19, which was an improvement over his collegiate PR of 7:38.80 (No. 2 in program history). Right behind Schoppe was former teammate and two-time NCAA Champion Fouad Messaoudi, who placed second on the day with a personal-best mark of 7:40.20.
In the same race, current Cowboys Will Muirhead and Denis Kipngetich placed fourth and fifth on the day, with Muirhead's time of 7:48.69 moving him up to No. 7 on OSU's all-time list.
Earlier in the day, Stillwater native Keegan Thomas battled in the University men's 3,000 Meter University section, clutching a second-place finish with a personal-best time of 8:06.75 in a tight race. Teammate Will Conway was competing unattached and crossed the line right third with his time of 8:07.46.
Elsewhere on the track, Cowgirls Kadence Huck (7th) and Isis Grant (tenth) had top-10 finishes in the women's 800 Meters, running times of 2:08.29 and 2:08.71, respectively.
Over at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in New Mexico, Cowboy senior Blair Anderson earned fifth in the men's Long Jump with a mark of 7.54 meters.
Saturday's action heats up in Washington, with school record holders Billah Jepkirui, Kaylie Politza and cross country All-American Isca Chelangat competing in the Mile, 800 Meters and 5,000 Meters, respectively. On the men's side, Triple Jump school record holder Kevin Kemboi will be competing for just the third time in his Cowboy career in New Mexico.
