September 25, 2025 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country kick off regular season action as they host the 87th annual Cowboy Jamboree at the state-of-the-art Greiner Family Cross Country Course Friday morning.
This year's Jamboree is particularly stacked, with three top-10 teams on the men's side (No. 2 New Mexico, No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 10 Oregon) and three top-15 teams on the women's side (No. 1 BYU, No. 4 New Mexico and No. 14 Oklahoma State).
The Cowboys enter the Jamboree ranked No. 3 in the country in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and own 27 victories all-time at the Jamboree, including 11 of the past 13. Additionally, four different Cowboys have won each of the past four Cowboy Jamboree meets, with Isai Rodriguez in 2021, Alex Maier in 2022, Denis Kipngetich and Brian Musau in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Cowgirls sit at No. 14 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll and are primed for a return to the top 10 with the return of 2023 All-America Billah Jepkirui to the lineup after a redshirt season. Jepkirui and Big 12 outdoor 5K runner-up Isca Chelangat figure to help the Cowgirls challenge top-ranked BYU and No. 4 New Mexico. The OSU women have won eight of the past 12 Jamboree meets overall.
In the past four seasons, OSU has swept the individual victories three times, with Rodriguez and Taylor Roe doing so in 2021, Maier and Natalie Cook in 2022 and Kipngetich and Billah Jepkirui in 2023. The individual races are shaping up to be some of the best this season in the NCAA, with No. 2 Habtom Samuel of New Mexico vs. No. 3 Kipngetich on the men's side and No. 2 Pamela Kosgei (New Mexico) vs. Jepkirui (who was seventh at the NCAA Championships in 2023) and No. 24 Riley Chamberlain of BYU in the women's race.
The women's 6K will kick things off at 8:15 a.m. CT, with the men's 8K immediately following at 8:50 a.m. CT. The high school large school boy's 5K will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by the large school girl's 5K at 10:15, small school boy's 5K at 11:00 and the small school girl's 5K at 11:45.
