STILLWATER –Oklahoma State's men's tennis team signed Turkish native Haydar Gokpinar on Tuesday, it was announced by Cowboy head coach Dustin Taylor.
Gokpinar currently ranks 116th in the ITF Junior Rankings but was as high as 61 this year. The 18-year-old made an appearance at the Junior Championships at Wimbledon where he made it through qualifying with two straight-set victories to advance to the main draw.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Haydar to Oklahoma State and the Cowboy Tennis family," Taylor said. "Haydar is one of the top juniors in the world and it was his maturity and professionalism that stood out to us from day one. He exemplifies everything we want in a Cowboy and will have an immediate impact on all involved."
The 2024 campaign was a massive year for the young star, winning a whopping seven titles, three singles and four in doubles.
In singles, the right-hander took home two J100 Titles in Egypt, one in Giza and the other in Dakahlia. He added a J60 Title to his belt in his home country of Turkey.
Moving to doubles, Gokpinar won the J200 in Cairo with partner Alejandro Mateo Berge Nourescu, the biggest win of his junior career. He then tallied three more J100 doubles titles throughout Egypt and Kazakhstan.
Gokpinar will arrive in Stillwater for the 2025 fall season.
