Cowgirl Tennis Beats Kansas, Extends Win Streak to 10

LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 19 Oklahoma State went on the road to beat No. 39 Kansas, 4-1, on Friday evening, extending its win streak to 10.
The Cowgirls improve to 17-6 with an 11-1 mark in conference play while extending their road win streak to six. OSU has a chance to clinch a share of the Big 12 regular season title for the second consecutive season with a win against No. 65 Iowa State on Sunday, with the match slated for a noon start in Ames, Iowa.
Oklahoma State took an early lead, winning the doubles point for the 11th consecutive match. Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez struck first for the Cowgirls, defeating Jasmine Adams and Yerke Arystanbekova, 6-2.
Kansas returned the favor with a win on court three, but the No. 9 pairing of Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp outlasted He Janse van Vuuren and Gracie Mulville, 7-6 (7-2), on court one to clinch the point for the Cowgirls.
OSU added to its lead as singles play began, getting a win from No. 65 Komar over Maria Titova, 6-1, 6-3. The Jayhawks responded by putting their lone point on the board as Kyoka Kubo defeated Collins, 6-1, 6-3.
The Cowgirls then got a win from No. 70 Epps, beating Arystanbekova 6-2, 6-4, before Ercan clinched the match by defeating No. 102 Mulville, 6-4, 6-2.
No. 121 Nijkamp led Janse van Vuuren, 6-2, 1-6, 2-1, when play was stopped, while No. 115 Lopez was headed for a third set against Anna Putilina with the score at 2-6, 6-3.
