Oklahoma State from a Distance
After playing the toughest schedule in the nation through the first two weeks, the Oklahoma State softball team stands at 19-7 and is 4-3 in Big 12 play, with six wins over ranked opponents. The gauntlet continued into league play as the Pokes opened against two-time All-American NiJaree Canady and No. 16/15 Texas Tech. The league slate continued as the Cowgirls won their lone game against Houston after a historic wildfire outbreak caused cancellations to the first two games in that series. OSU then picked up a gritty series win over Baylor in Stillwater after dropping the first contest of the three-game set.  Offensively, sophomores Rosie Davis and Tia Warsop have stood out, with Davis leading the team in RBIs (30) and Warsop tied for the Big 12 lead in batting average (.429) and ranking fifth in the conference with a .508 on-base percentage. Senior Megan Bloodworth, the March 4 Big 12 Player of the Week, has also been a force at the plate, slashing .322/.369/.627 with five home runs and 13 RBIs. Graduate transfer Megan Delgadillo (Cal State Fullerton) is batting .388 and paces the team with 21 runs scored and a Big 12-best 18 stolen bases.
In the circle, Washington transfer Ruby Meylan is performing at an All-America level. The junior from Omaha, Nebraska, is 12-2 with a 1.03 ERA to go with 113 strikeouts in 88.2 innings of work. Sophomore right-hander Katie Kutz began the season as the least experienced pitcher on the staff, however she's now one of the Cowgirls' top arms. The McLean, Va., native was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18 after securing wins over three ranked opponents in four appearances at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational. On the season, she is 7-2 with a 2.80 ERA.
