Kobelt and Gokpinar Round Out Week in Norman

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team recently wrapped up a successful run at the UTR PTT Norman, highlighted by Nicolas Kobelt's four wins.

The event took place over six days, beginning with five rounds of group stage play, followed by five separate playoff brackets based on the group stage results.

Kobelt led the way for the Pokes, earning four wins in his six matches. His signature win took place over Oklahoma's 50^th-ranked singles player Oscar Lacides. The two battled throughout with Kobelt coming back and taking the duel in a third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

Kobelt's efforts took him to a 10^th place finish for the tournament.

Freshman Haydar Gokpinar made his Cowboy debut this week and earned himself a 13^th place finish. After a slow start, he quickly gained his form, winning his last three matches, including a dominant straight-set victory over Arkansas' Arsene Pougault, 7-5, 6-1.

Kobelt, Gokpinar and a cavalry of other Cowboys return on Oct. 8 for the ITA Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
