The Basics:
Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked equestrian team travels south to face No. 7 TCU in the first matchup of the season. It will be each team's first Big 12 meet of the year. OSU is coming off another successful season, winning its fifth-straight Big 12 title and making a quarter-finals appearance in the national championship. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:30 at Bear Creek Farms.
About the Cowgirls:
Head coach Larry Sanchez, in his 27th year at the helm, leads the Cowgirls alongside seventh-year assistant Laura Brainard, third-year assistant Alle Durkin, first-year assistant Ashley Duda and consultant Jody Brainard.
2024-25 Review:
Winning their fifth straight Big 12 Championship, the Cowgirls finished 9-6 overall and reached the quarterfinal round of the NCEA Championship. Under Western assistant coach Laura Brainard, the Cowgirl Reining squad compiled 44 wins and nine MOPs while the Horsemanship tacked on 43 wins and six MOPs. June Roberson and Claire McDowell were named All-Americans in Horsemanship while Abby Budd, Emma Filiatreau and Quincee Clark earned the honors in Reining.
Jumping Seat assistant Alle Durkin helped coach the Fences group to 33 wins and nine MOPs to go along with the Flat team who accrued 36 wins and six MOPS. Riley Hogan capped off her incredible career with two All-American selections. She was named to the second team in Fences while being an honorable mention in Flat.
Conference Leaders:Â The Cowgirls went 5-3 against Big 12 opponents last season, including two wins on their way to the program's first ever conference championship five-peat, something no team in the Big 12 had previously accomplished.
An Oklahoma State Win Would...
- improve its record against TCU to 30-7
- make OSU's record 8-11 in Fort Worth
- improve head coach Larry Sanchez' conference record to 76-38
- give the Cowgirls their first opening-meet win since 2021
