Cowgirl Equestrian Falls to No. 7 TCU in Season Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked equestrian team fell by a score of 12-8 to TCU and its seventh-ranked team Friday afternoon at Bear Creek Farms.

With the loss, OSU fell to 0-1 on the season and in Big 12 play while TCU improved to 1-0 in both regards.

Emma Filiatreau earned her fifth career MOP after winning her point in Reining 72.5-69.25. Filiatreau, a junior, is coming off a strong 2024-2025 campaign that earned her both a spot on the All-American Second Team and All-Big 12 Team. After an undefeated postseason run last year, is now on a four-match winning streak.

The day started with Fences and Horsemanship.

The Fences team lost 4-1, with junior Bella Holway scoring the lone point for the Pokes with a 77-62.5 win. It would be the first of two points scored for Holway on the day. Freshman Lauren Gee shined in her first collegiate ride with an 86, but she was narrowly outdone by TCU's Lex Lipacis' 86.5. Gee's mark was good for the second highest of the day in Fences.

Over in Horsemanship, the Cowgirls battled to a 3-2 loss. June Roberson got her senior season started with a 76.5-76.25 win after a junior season that resulted in an All-American First Team selection and a spot on the All-Big 12 Team. The ride gave Roberson 28 career wins. The other point for the Cowgirl Horsemanship team came courtesy of Bella D'Onofrio in a 73.5-72 win. Both Roberson and D'Onofrio continued their success after undefeated postseason performances last season.

Flat and Reining took place after intermission.

In Flat, OSU fell 4-1. TCU scored each of the first four points before Holway secured her second win of the day with a 76.5-76 win. It was the second time in Holway's career that she won two rides in the same meet.

The Cowgirl Reining squad had a strong showing, winning their match up 4-1. After not competing in her freshman season, sophomore Katie Ramsey earned a win in her first collegiate competition with a 72.75-69.75 score. Freshman Ayden Welman did the same, following suit with a 66.5-66 victory. The final two points came from Filiatreau and junior Ava Bush.

Up next for the Cowgirls is a match up against No. 3 SMU at Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center on Friday at 1 p.m.
