Cowboy Tennis Falls at San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Oklahoma State's men's tennis team dropped the final game of its road trip to San Diego, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.
The win improves the Toreros to 1-0, while the loss drops the Cowboys to 0-2.
The match opened in doubles, seeing San Diego win courts one and two to clinch the point. Iiro Vasa and Savriyan Danilov, the country's 88th-ranked doubles team, defeated Thomas Gadecki and Derek Pham 6-0, and top-ranked Oliver Tarvat and Stain Klaassen took down Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile, 6-3.
Court three's match between OSU's Nicolas Kobelt and Ian Bracks and USD's Adrien Berrut and Blake Kasday was left unfinished with San Diego leading, 5-4.
In singles, two-time All-American No. 15 Tarvat defeated No. 108 Becroft, 6-0, 6-1. On court two, No. 29 Danilov downed Basile, 6-2, 6-1, to give the Toreros a 3-0 lead in the match.
San Diego clinched the match out on court six, as Neo Niedner defeated Matei Onofrei in his singles debut, 6-1, 6-3.
Oklahoma State's Kobelt picked up his first win as a Cowboy over No. 71 Klaassen, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, and Bracks collected his second win on the year defeating Berrut, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 1-0 (8), to give the Pokes a pair of points.
The match closed on court three, where San Diego's Vasa defeated Pham, 3-6, 7-6 (8), 1-0 (8).
Oklahoma State now heads to Tuscan, Ariz., for ITA Kickoff Weekend, where it will face UCF on Saturday, January 25. Depending on Saturday's outcome, OSU will face either No. 6 Arizona or USC on January 26.
