No. 4 Oklahoma State Sweeps Wyoming in Season Opener

STILLWATER– Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked women's tennis team defeated Wyoming, 7-0, on Wednesday to open its season at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater.
OSU was powered by five players earning their first wins as Cowgirls while it extended its win streak in season openers to six and its win streak in regular season matches to 27.
Oklahoma State opened the match by taking the doubles point, as the pairing of Kylie Collins and Gracie Epps defeated Wyoming's Eugenia Ceinos and Ana Kochelaevskaia, 6-2. Anastasiya Komar and freshman Rose Marie Nijkamp then defeated Violetta Borodina and Elena Trencheva of Wyoming, 6-1, clinching the doubles point for OSU.
Marcela Lopez and Alian Zack's match did not finish, but the OSU pair led Dilnaz Mashabayeva and Ruby Young, 4-3, when it was stopped.
Singles play saw its first point go to OSU when No. 33 Epps defeated Ceinos, 6-1, 6-0, on court two. The next point for Oklahoma State came from court three as Nijkamp defeated Kochelaevskaia, 6-2, 6-1.
On court one, after battling through a tiebreaker in set one, No. 48 Komar finished the match with an ace to secure the win over Borodina, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, and a third singles point for OSU.
No. 58 Lopez then wrapped up her match on court four, winning in three sets against Ruby Young, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, before Amber Hochstatter won her first career match at OSU, defeating Dilnaz Mashabayeva in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
The final point for Oklahoma State came on court five, where newcomer Zack defeated Trencheva in, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
OSU returns to action on Saturday for a doubleheader, with match one at 1 p.m. against Texas State followed by a battle with Southeast Missouri State at 6 p.m.
