Provo, Utah — Oklahoma State concluded its road trip with an 85-69 loss to BYU on Tuesday evening at the J. Willard Marriott Center.
OSU fell to 9-7 overall (1-4 Big 12), while BYU improved to 11-5 (2-3 Big 12).
The Cowboys quickly found themselves in a hole at the 9:36 mark of the first half after a slam by BYU's Keba Keita put the Cougars ahead 22-11.
From that point on, OSU struggled to contain BYU's offense, which extended the lead to as much as 27 points at the 3:23 mark, 42-15.
Khalil Brantley scored on a tough drive to the basket with 1:16 remaining in the first half, cutting BYU's lead to 44-20. However, Keita responded with another dunk 54 seconds later, sending BYU into halftime with a commanding 46-26 lead.
Ten seconds into the second half, BYU picked up where it left off, with Trevin Knell drilling a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 49-26.
OSU answered with a 22-2 run, led by Jamyron Keller's 11 points during the stretch. Bryce Thompson's pair of free throws trimmed the deficit to 51-48 with 13:22 remaining.
However, Dallin Hall's two 3-pointers during an 11-2 BYU counter pushed the lead back near double digits, 59-50, and OSU was unable to recover.
The Cowboys shot 41% from the field and 38% from 3-point range, while BYU finished at 52% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc.
Thompson and Keller led OSU with 15 points each, while Abou Ousmane added 13. Arturo Dean contributed four steals, marking the fifth game this season he has accomplished the feat.
