STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team was ranked third and nine Cowboys garnered individual recognition in InterMat's preseason rankings, it was announced this week.
Sitting at No. 3, Oklahoma State led all nine Big 12 teams included in the tournament poll. Missouri and South Dakota State joined OSU in the top 10 at eighth and ninth, respectively, while Arizona State (12), Northern Iowa (14), Iowa State (15), West Virginia (16), Northern Colorado (21) and Wyoming (25) rounded out the group. Only Penn State and Iowa were slotted above the Cowboys.
Individually, OSU had nine wrestlers ranked 21st or higher, tied for the most in the country, and was one of five programs with at least six in the top 10.
Wyatt Hendrickson begins his Cowboy career as the No. 2 heavyweight and the team's highest-ranked wrestler. Fresh off a stellar run at Air Force, Hendrickson is a two-time All-American and went 27-2 with a 79% bonus rate last season. Not far behind was 2024 NCAA finalist Dustin Plott, who was listed third at 184 pounds. Plott won 31 of his 35 matches last year, beating 19 ranked opponents and three in the top five.
