Oklahoma State Outdoor Track & Field Heads to Waco for Big 12 Championships
May 08, 2024 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field travels to Waco, Texas, for the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 9-11.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls enter the conference meet with one of their best combined seasons in program history, as three school records have already fallen this season with Brian Musau in the 5K, Winny Bii in the Triple Jump and Bailey Golden in the Heptathlon. Both teams (No. 17 and No. 18) also enter the conference meet each ranked in the top-25 for just the second time and first since 2015.
At last year's Big 12 Championships, OSU claimed a quartet of individual championships with Billah Jepkirui (1,500 Meters), Gabija Galvydyte (800 Meters), Fouad Messaoudi (1,500 Meters) and Victor Shitsama (Steeplechase) all taking home titles. All four Cowboys and Cowgirls remain in the lineup this year with Jepkirui, Galvydyte and Shitsama all looking to defend their titles in the same events. Messaoudi is bumping up to the 5,000 Meters after winning back-to-back Big 12 titles in the 1,500 Meters.
Action in Waco kicks off Thursday with the first five events of the Decathlon and first four events of the Heptathlon. Finals for the men's and women's Hammer Throw and 10,000 Meters will also take place starting at 12 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. CT, respectively. The entirety of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Live results for the meet can be found here.
