Cowgirl Basketball Adds Experienced Post Presence

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed Ténin Magassa, a veteran presence, to bolster its front court it was announced today by head coach Jacie Hoyt.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Ténin. She adds tremendous size and experience to help round out our roster," Hoyt said. "Her ability to protect the rim and block shots is special. Offensively, she's got the mobility to play at the fast pace we want in transition and she will also fit seamlessly into our ball screen offense."
Magassa joins the Cowgirl program after spending the past two seasons at Rhode Island. The Morsang-Sur-Orge, France native was tabbed as a preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference third-team member prior to her junior and senior campaigns.
A 6-6 center, Magassa played in 28 games last year, making 12 starts. She averaged 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds on the year, while blocking a team-best 58 shots and helping the Rams to 21 wins.
In 2022-23, Magassa averaged 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds for a Rams squad which posted a 26-7 mark on the year and reached the third round of the WNIT.
During the 2021-22 campaign, she recorded three double-doubles while helping Dayton to a 26-6 mark on the season. For the year, Magassa averaged 5.9 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds per contest. She recorded a season-best 14 rebounds in the Flyers' NCAA win over DePaul.
Magassa was named the 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Sixth Woman of the Year while also earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team following her freshman campaign. She competed in all 19 of the squad's games and made one start, averaging 9.6 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game. Additionally, her 18 rebounds against Saint Louis were the most ever in a single game by a freshman in program history.
Magassa left Dayton with 113 blocked shots, which ranked fifth all time in program history.
For her career, she has appeared in 93 games, averaging 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. Magassa has 190 blocks and six career double-doubles to her credit while helping her teams to a combined record of 87-32.
A graduate of Jean Moulin High School in France, Magassa was a four-year varsity letterwinner. She was the third-leading scorer for the U18 French national team that won the bronze medal at the 2019 European Championships. She competed at the 2017 U16 European Championships, helping guide France to the bronze medal as well.
