April 30, 2024 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's tennis' Tyler Zink, along with the pairing of Isaac Becroft and Zink, will play in the individual portion of the NCAA Championships from May 20-26 at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Sixty-four of the top singles players and 32 doubles pairings were selected to battle for an NCAA individual title hosted in Stillwater.
The selections mark the second in both singles and doubles under head coach Dustin Taylor.
No. 8 Zink and Becroft will play together for the first time in the NCAA individual tournament. The Cowboy duo has climbed the ITA rankings since first appearing on Nov. 15 following a successful fall season. The pairing collected two wins at the ITA All-American Championship, to go with five-straight victories to win the ITA Fall Regional in Stillwater. The win punched a ticket to ITA Fall Nationals where the duo picked up a first-round win over Mississippi State's Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez before falling in the second round.
In the spring season, the duo tallied a 5-0 record with all wins coming on court one and three of those wins coming in conference action. Four victories were against ranked opponents including a 7-6(5) win over Texas' No. 22 Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championships.
No. 24 Zink will be the first OSU singles bid to the NCAA individual tournament since Zink competed in 2021. He has appeared in the ITA top 30 in every spring season poll, with the highest being No. 15 on Feb. 20.
Zink leads the team with 16 wins all of which were recorded on the featured court. He logged a team-high six wins over ranked opponents, including a straight-set victory over San Diego's No. 5 Oliver Tarvet on March 10. He tallied 11 wins in 13 matches from Feb. 3 to March 28.
