April 27, 2024 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – Supporters, former players and current players gathered at Stillwater Country Club on Friday for the 2024 Cowgirl Pro-Am.
The Cowgirl Pro-Am brought together 18 teams of five for a scramble-format tournament, with four amateurs joined by a pro or current Cowgirl or Cowboy on each team. Head coach Greg Robertson and assistant coach Maddi Swaney organized the event which raised more than $250,000 for the program.
"A day like this is huge," Robertson said. "We're really fortunate to have everybody that's out here. It's incredible. This allows us to do a lot of things that most teams can't do."
Cowboy golfer Rayhan Thomas represented the winning team, which fired 22-under 48, alongside Daniel Heflin, Phil Ryan, Lon Huff, Tom Johansen and Rob Williams, while Ellie Bushnell, Bo Jin and McCandren Mack's teams finished on the podium 20-under.
Mack, a Cowgirl golfer from 2015-17, joined Marnie McGuire (1987-90), Nikki Gatch (1991-94) and Amanda Therell (2006-09) as alumnae at this year's Pro-Am.
2023 Hall of Honor inductee Ann Pitts also made her way to Stillwater Country Club. Pitts, the founder of Cowgirl Golf, led the program to 15 conference titles, 15 NCAA Championship appearances – including six top-10 finishes – and 19 All-Americans during her tenure.
McGuire, a NGCA First-Team All-American in 1990, went on to earn six professional wins and play five years on the LPGA Tour.
"They're the ones that help kind of pave the way to where we are right now," Robertson said. "It just shows what kind of family we have with this golf program and all the supporters in it.
"I really think we've got the best supporters in college women's golf."
