The Basics
The No. 8/10 Oklahoma State softball team (29-6 overall, 9-3 Big 12) is back on the road this week for a midweek game at North Texas followed by a three- game series at Houston for week five of Big 12 play. The matchup against the Mean Green is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3. The series opener against the Cougars is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday, April 5, with Saturday's contest set for 2 p.m. The series finale on Sunday is at noon.

Oklahoma State is No. 8 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll and No. 10 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. Softball America has the Cowgirls at No. 4 and D1Softballhas the Pokes at No. 9. In the NCAA Softball Rating Percentage Index (RPI), OSU slots in at No. 10. Texas checks in at No. 2 in both the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25.

Oklahoma State from a Distance
At 29-6 on the year, Oklahoma State has seven wins over ranked opponents and owns a 9-3 record in Big 12 play, good for second in the conference. Interestingly, this year's Cowgirls are performing at a similar level to OSU's recent Women's College World Series teams despite relying heavily on freshmen and sophomores. Pitchers Lexi Kilfoyl and Ivy Rosenberry both have ERA's below 1.02. Offensively, OSU is on pace to hit over 80 home runs and 84 doubles, both of which would rank in the top five in program history. Freshman infielder Karli Godwin and senior transfer Caroline Wang lead the Cowgirls with 19 combined home runs and 16 combined doubles, with each of them tallying at least 25 RBIs on the season. Freshman infielder Rosie Davis leads OSU with a .459 on-base percentage and is second on the team with a .359 batting average. The Cowgirls opened Big 12 play with a gritty series victory over then-No. 19/14 Baylor in Waco. OSU trailed late in all three contests but outscored the Bears by a combined margin of 7-2 in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. The Pokes secured their first Big 12 sweep of the season over UCF from March 15-17 in Stillwater, outscoring the Knights in the series, 18-8. The Cowgirls were tested in Provo after dropping game two of the three-game series, however they prevailed with the series victory following a 10-2 run-rule victory in the series finale. OSU faced its biggest test up to this point with a three-game series against then-No. 2/2 Texas in Stillwater. The Pokes shutout the No. 2 offense in the nation twice to earn the series victory off the back of two Kilfoyl complete-game shutouts.

• The Cowgirls have won 23 of their last 27, including victories over No. 4 Washington, No. 16 Florida, No. 19 Baylor (twice) and No. 2 Texas (twice). In that stretch, OSU has outscored its opponents by a combined margin of 141-49.
• Oklahoma State has scored first in 30 of its 35 contests this season.
• OSU has been ranked in the NFCA poll in each of its last 306 games, dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
• OSU has outscored its opponents, 19-3, from the seventh inning on.

OSU and Houston have met 13 times in the school's history, with the Cougars leading the series 8-5. In Houston, the series is tied 3-3, while the Cowgirls hold a slight advantage in the Gajewski era, 3-2.
