Cowgirl Golf Claims Bedlam Cup in Comeback Victory

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State women's golf took down Oklahoma, 5.5-3.5, in the sixth edition of the Bedlam Cup on Friday.
After tying, 1.5-1.5, in morning four-ball and losing the opening pair of afternoon singles matches, the Cowgirls wrangled four straight victories to advance to a 4-2 lead in the series.
In the event's first appearance since 2017, freshman duo Sammie Miller and Marta Silchenko opened four-ball action versus Isabelle Schlick and Nina Lang with back-and-forth play being the catalyst.
With nine holes awarding points, Schlick and Lang notched their fifth-and-final winner on hole No. 16 to post a team point for OU.
The Cowgirls tied action in the following match as Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Angelica Pfefferkorn took down Reagan Chaney and Gracie Mayo, 2&1.
Competition was on full display as Ellie Bushnell and Thitaporn Saithip took on Savannah Barber and Emily Hun of Oklahoma. With an all square front nine, Bushnell notched the first edge after birdieing hole No. 12 to go 1UP. However, the Sooners responded with Barber cashing a birdie the following hole.
The Cowgirls reclaimed their lead going 1UP off a hole No. 15 birdie from Saithip, only for the Sooners to tie the match on the next hole.
After a birdie from Barber on the final hole, Bushnell took to the green with a team point on the line. Bushnell canned her putt to end the round all squared, pitting the Cowgirls and Sooners into a 1.5-1.5 tie entering afternoon singles.
Oklahoma garnered some early steam in singles, with Hun defeating Miller, 6&5, before Chaney took down Bushnell, 6&4, to punch a two-point lead.
Hinson-Tolchard and Silchenko took an edge in the front nine, and despite multiple scares, both rallied to 3&2 victories to tie play.
With the Sooners on the doorstep of another point, Pfefferkorn rallied back down two shots in the front nine, carding birdies on hole Nos. 10 and 14 to tie play.
On hole No. 17, Pfefferkorn took her first lead of the match, holding on in the final hole to win, 1UP, and give Oklahoma State its first lead of the day with one singles match remaining.
Holding a 1UP lead entering the final hole, Saithip stood her ground on the green, securing the Cowgirls' victory.
