Bushnell Notches Top 5 Placement, Cowgirl Golf Finishes Eighth in Phoenix

Phoenix – Ellie Bushnell posted her best finish as a Cowgirl Saturday, finishing the PING/ASU Invitational tied for fourth as Oklahoma State women's golf exited Papago Golf Club in eighth place.
In a 17-team field that included four top-10 teams, the Cowgirls finished ahead of No. 6 USC and No. 7 Texas while also besting No. 14 Oregon.
Bushnell posted the best placement by a Cowgirl this season and the highest placement by an OSU freshman since Rina Tatematsu won the ICON Invitational in 2021. With rounds of 68-69-74 – 211, she carried the individual lead entering the final 18.
The Granite Bay, California native came four shots back from the individual champions, Emma Bunch of New Mexico State and Zoe Campos of UCLA, who both finished 9-under 207 with matching rounds of 69-70-68.
Oklahoma State moved from fifth to eighth place on Saturday, finishing the three-day tournament 4-over par with rounds of 290-282-296 – 868. Northwestern took home the tournament firing 11-under at 284-285-284 – 853.
After 33 birdies across Thursday and Friday, the Cowgirls were stymied Saturday with eight birdies but still managed to finish fifth in the category with 41 in the tournament.
Marta Silchenko narrowly missed her second career top-20 finish, ending action tied for 21st with rounds of 73-70-73 – 216. Silchenko carded her fourth eagle of the season and her ninth par-or-better round Friday.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard wrapped up play tied for 41st at 4-over 220. Hinson-Tolchard will rejoin the Cowgirls next week as she is to compete at the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur from April 3-6 at Champions Retreat Golf Club and Augusta National.
Thitaporn Saithip signed a 75 on Saturday to tie for 49th at 6-over 222, while Angelica Pfefferkorn ended tied for 74th in the field.
Next up, the Cowgirls return to Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club on April 8-9 for the Match Play at the Jimmie.
