Cowboy Tennis Defeats Princeton, Goes 2-0 on the Weekend

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team defeated Princeton, 4-3, at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Sunday to cap an undefeated weekend.
With the win, the Pokes improved to 8-2 on the year and 7-1 at home.
The Cowboys faced off against Princeton for the second time in program history. With the win over the Tigers, the Cowboys evened the all-time series at one apiece.
On center court, Tyler Zink and Alex Garcia cruised over Princeton's Paul Inchauspe and Landon Ardila with a dominant 6-1 win. The win kept the Zink and Garcia duo to an undefeated 5-0 on the season.
OSU's Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basile clinched the doubles point after claiming a 6-3 win over Sebastian Sec and Ellis Short on court two.
With the doubles point secured, court three featuring OSU's Goran Zgola and Leighton Allen against Princeton's Alan Kam and Evan Wen went unfinished at four all.
Singles play included three first-set breakers and multiple third sets.
No. 32 Garcia extended the Cowboy lead to 2-0 as he defeated Princeton's Nidunjianzan, 6-4, 6-2. He climbed to 6-2 in singles action.
Becroft pushed the Pokes' lead to 3-0, taking down Princeton's Sec, 7-6(0), 6-2. With the win, Becroft improved to 7-0 in singles play.
Ellis Short got the Tigers on the board, defeating Cowboy Alessio Basile, 7-6(5), 7-5.
In Erik Schiessl's first third-set match of his career, he rose to the occasion and took down Princeton's Ardila 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Schiessl remains a perfect 7-0 on the season.
Princeton's Aleksandar Mitric added a second point for the Tigers as he defeated Francisco Pini, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
No. 18 ranked Zink played another close and lengthy match, this time against Princeton's No. 69 ranked Inchauspe. After two sets that went to tiebreakers, Inchauspe defeated Zink, 7-6(3), 6-7(5), 6-4. This hard-fought duel contained the most games played in a match this season with 36. The battle was also the first match for a Cowboy with two tiebreakers this season.
The Cowboys will look to continue their four-match winning streak as they take on Drake at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
