STILLWATER – Oklahoma State cross country took home a pair of conference awards, with Brian Musau being named Big 12 Men's Runner of the Year and Sivan Auerbach winning Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Thursday.
Musau is the first Cowboy in the program's prestigious history to win two Big 12 Runner of the Year awards and is just the third man in the history of the award to win it twice, joining Iowa State's Edwin Kurgat (2018-19) and Wesley Kiptoo (2020-21). He is also the third Cowboy overall to win the award, joining Hassan Abdi and Alex Maier, who did so in 2016 and 2022, respectively.
Musau earned All-American honors for the second consecutive year after placing fifth overall at the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, the highest of any Big 12 runners. The sophomore also became the seventh runner in Conference history to win back-to-back Big 12 Championship titles as he finished with a time of 22:06.9. Musau is the first Cowboy to earn the award twice. Earlier in the season, he shattered the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course record with his 8K time of 22:55.6.
Also on the award stand was Sivan Auerbach, who was named Big 12 Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year after earning her second consecutive Elite 90 award for women's cross country. Auerbach is the fourth Cowgirl to earn the award, joining Ingeborg Loevnes (2015), Taylor Somers (2019) and Taylor Roe (2023). The graduate student is double majoring in computer engineering and computer science with a 4.00 GPA. She was named to the All-Big 12 team after finishing 15th with a time of 20:03.23.
