Epps Opens ITA Conference Masters with Pair of Wins

ROME, Ga. – Gracie Epps of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team opened play at the ITA Conference Masters with two wins on Thursday in Rome, Georgia.
Beginning in the Round of 32, Epps defeated East Tennessee State's Daniela Rivera, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, before beating Youngstown State's Julia Marko, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to Friday's quarterfinals.
The strong start puts her one win shy of clinching a berth into the NCAA Individual Championships, set to take place in Waco, Texas, later this month. She'll take on the winner of top-seeded, No. 39 Claudia De Las Heras from San Diego and Richmond's Sofia Maria Barbulescu on Friday at 10 a.m. CT.
The ITA Conference Masters field consists of 32 singles players and 32 doubles pairings, with each NCAA Division I, automatic qualifier-eligible conference designating one player and one doubles team to represent it. The four singles semifinalists and top three finishers in the doubles draw will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Individual Championships.
