Cowgirls Dominate Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Season Opener, 96-43

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team opened the regular season with a 96-43 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Monday.Â
Â
The win marked the 18th in OSU's last 19 season openers.Â
Â
Macey Huard led the way with a career-high 31 points, which is the highest point total ever recorded by a Cowgirl during her debut. The Cowgirls had four double-digit scorers, including Anna Gret Asi with 16, Micah Gray with 16 and Tenin Magassa with 11.Â

Asi buried a pair of triples, and the Cowgirls forced seven turnovers as OSU led 18-8 after the opening period.

In the second, the Cowgirls outscored the Golden Lions 25-9 behind 11 points from Huard.Â

Heading into the locker room, OSU led 43-17. The Cowgirls shot 50% from beyond the arc and held UAPB scoreless from deep. Tying her career high, Huard led the way with 16, and Asi poured in 10.Â

Coming out of the half, Asi and Gray drilled three-pointers to extend the Cowgirl lead to 53-25.

Rylee Langerman tallied her 100th career assist on Huard's fourth three-pointer to cap off a 15-0 run later in the period.Â

The Cowgirls did not allow a field goal in the final six minutes of the third to take a 74-28 lead into the final quarter.Â

Five UAPB turnovers in the fourth sparked an 11-0 run for the Cowgirls to finish the night.Â

OSU made 12 three-pointers on 52% shooting from beyond the arc and held UAPB to 10%. Huard had five, Asi tallied four and Gray added a pair.Â

The Cowgirls forced 22 turnovers and held the Golden Lions to 30% shooting. OSU also outrebounded UAPB 32-27, and Huard grabbed her 100th career rebound.Â
