Several Cowboys Rise in Weekly Rankings

STILLWATER – Several Cowboys saw a rise in this week's individual InterMat rankings, as the team remained third in the NWCA Coaches Poll, it was announced Tuesday.
Oklahoma State is coming off its second straight undefeated weekend, posting wins over Wyoming and No. 23 Arizona State to improve to 4-0 on the season. Through those four duals, it has claimed 33 of 40 bouts and secured bonus points 22 times, good for a 55% clip.
The Big 12's total of eight ranked members was once again tied for the most in the country with inclusions by No. 10 Northern Iowa, No. 12 Iowa State, No. 14 South Dakota State, No. 15 Missouri, No. 18 West Virginia, No. 22 Oklahoma and No. 25 Arizona State. Northern Colorado and Wyoming also received votes.
Individually, Oklahoma State had a representative at all 10 weight classes, six of which were in the top 10.
Luke Surber received the biggest bump among the Cowboys this week, elevating five spots up to No. 12 at 197 pounds. He is 4-0 on the year and added another ranked victory against Wyoming's No. 16 Joey Novak last Friday. Cael Hughes' dominant showing against Arizona State's Carter Dibert on Sunday moved him up to No. 30 at 133 pounds, while 10th-ranked Tagen Jamison cracked the top 10 for the first time this season at 141 pounds.
Troy Spratley also continued his impressive season by beating Wyoming's second-ranked Jore Volk in sudden victory, which resulted in his No. 5 ranking at 125 pounds this week. The Cowboys now have four wrestlers ranked in the top five as No. 5 Dean Hamiti Jr., No. 3 Dustin Plott and No. 3 Wyatt Hendrickson all held their spots at 174, 184 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Cameron Amine landed in ninth at 165 pounds, while No. 20 Carter Young (149 pounds) and No. 18 Teague Travis (157 pounds) rounded out the group.
The Cowboys have a short break from competition before taking the mat at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on December 6-7.
