Cowgirl Equestrian Loses in Tiebreaking Fashion Against Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. — Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked equestrian team dropped its matchup against No. 7 Fresno State via tiebreaker Friday at Fresno's Student Horse Center.
The two teams battled to a 9-9 tie, but OSU lost the tiebreaker advantage by 42.25 points. The loss dropped the Cowgirls to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 competition, while FSU improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
The meet began with Fences and Horsemanship, where the teams split the events.
The Cowgirls took Horsemanship 3-1. This is the sixth time this season OSU has claimed the advantage in the event.
Bella D'Onofrio led the way, scoring an event-high 75 as the second rider. The sophomore moved back into the win column and earned the first MOP of her career. Peyton Baxter earned her second win of the season, defeating Aubrey Gerdes, 74-72.75.
June Roberson continued her success this season as she bested Kendra Lee, 73-72.5. The Horsemanship captain has now scored a point in four-straight meets and is 6-0-1 in her junior season.
Alana Stanton and Hailey Olson tied at 73.25 in the final matchup of the event. The lone point for the Bulldogs came from Abby Goddard as she defeated Cowgirl Claire McDowall, 73.25-71.75.
In Fences, the Cowgirls dropped the event 3-1. The lone point came from freshman Gable Gering, who earned her second Fences win this season. She beat Molly Stewart, 77.5-72, while Mackenzie Carreras and Paloma Primavera tied at 78.5 points.
Riley Hogan suffered her first Fences loss of the season after winning her first six. She fell to Olivia Ferro, 84.5-77.5, while Avery Schauder and Bella Holway also lost their rides.
With the meet tied at 4-4 going into intermission, it concluded with Flat and Reining.
The Cowgirls made a statement in Reining, completing a clean sweep in the event. It was the first time this season OSU swept Reining and the fifth time this season it claimed the team advantage.
OSU put up consistently high scores in all five Reining rides, never falling below 72 points. Emma Filiatreau led the way with a career-high 74.5, the highest score of the day, and the performance earned Filiatreau her third MOP of the season.
Abby Budd's 74-69 win over Gianna Flemming was the largest margin of victory on the day in Reining and was her fifth win of her season. Quincee Clark also earned her fifth win of the season by defeating Shelby Robinette, 73.75-71.75.
Tristan Bagby and Ava Bush also contributed to the sweep. Bagby's win is her second consecutive victory, and Bush improved her record to 3-3 this season.
The Cowgirls were bested in Flat, losing 5-0. This is the fourth time this season the Cowgirls have dropped the event. Hogan's four-ride win streak was snapped, and she fell to 5-2 in the event this season.
The Cowgirls now head north in the Golden State for the fall season finale on Saturday against UC Davis.
