Oklahoma State Cross Country Heads to Wisconsin for NCAA Cross Country Championships
November 22, 2024 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country travel north to Madison, Wis., for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after sweeping their way through the NCAA Midwest Regionals this past weekend.
The Cowboys enter the 2024 meet as the defending champions following a dominant, 49-point performance at last year's NCAA Championships, which was the lowest by any team since 2005 and was the third-lowest overall since 2000. The OSU men will be looking for the program's sixth title overall and fifth under Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith, with the previous five coming in 1954, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2023.
This season, a Cowboy has won every regular and postseason meet thus far, with Brian Musau winning the Cowboy Jamboree and Big 12 Championships and Denis Kipngetich winning the Weis-Crockett Invitational and NCAA Midwest Regional. Both men were All-Americans on the 2023 squad and are joined by multi-time All-Americans Victor Shitsama and Fouad Messaoudi, who placed 12th and 10th last season, respectively.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls enter ranked No. 16 after winning the NCAA Midwest Regional last weekend for the third straight season. Both Sivan Auerbach and Josphine Mwaura were named to the All-Big 12 and All-Region squads with Victoria Lagat and Colleen Stegmann earning All-Region honors as well. The OSU women have earned top-4 trophy finishes in each of the past two seasons and are looking to secure a top-10 finish for the fourth time under Smith.
The Cowgirls will lead things off on Saturday from the Zimmer Championship Course, with the women's 6K kicking off at 9:20 a.m. CT. The men's 10K will immediately follow at 10:10 a.m. CT. ESPNU's live, uninterrupted coverage of the meet starts at 8:30 a.m. with John Anderson leading the call. Live results for the NCAA Cross Country Championships can be found here.
